The past fortnight has been very eventful in our school. It is great to see students representing our school in sport and whole school events and celebrations back in action. We look forward to having our community more invovled as the return to normal creeps closer.
Parent Engagement Project Update
The research window closed on Wednesday of last week. We have been applying a problem solving methodology, Design Thinking, to explore how we might improve the way we engage parents and carers.ThinkPlace, a Canberra consulting firm that specialises in Design Thinking, has been guiding us through the process. The next step in our process is brainstorming solutions with everyone who will be impacted by the solution.
Your perspective would be highly valued at some brainstorming workshops we have planned for Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 of November. Any ideas for improving the way we engage parents will definitely involve you to help shape the future of the school.
Parents and carers are invited to attend a workshop in the school library on:
Tuesday 17 November 3.30-4.30
or
Thursday 19 November 9.30-10.30
There will be chocolate!

This week is NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia usually in July but this year it was postponed to November to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity four your students to participate in a range of activities and to support our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. There will be read alouds each morning in the library, a whole school assembly and learning experiences in each class.
Dogs at School
A friendly reminder that dogs are not allowed on school grounds during drop off and pick up. We have some students who are frightened of dogs and others with allergies. Thank you for keeping everyone safe.

Spotlight on Learning Preschool

Wow! What a busy term we have had!
We celebrated Children’s Week in week 3 with a disco. We dressed up in our best party clothes and got to dance the afternoon away. The end of the week groups even got to have a little dance in the rain. We borrowed the big speaker from Erin so got to play our favourite songs nice and loud. We have some little pop stars in our midst! The teachers treated us to their best (sometimes old-school) moves and blew lots of bubbles for us to play amongst.
All preschool classes have pet silkworms! Observing and caring for silkworms help us develop a respect for living creatures and helps instil a sense of responsibility. Classes are responsible for ensuring that the silkworms have fresh mulberry leaves and a clean home. Over the coming weeks we will be observing the changes and the life cycle of a silkworm.

Japanese Day - Thursday 26 November (Week 7)
On Thursday 26 November (Week 7) Ngunnawal Primary is going to have its first Japanese Day to celebrate our fantastic learning about Japan this year. This will focus on cultural activities in rotations from recess until the end of the day. Students are encouraged to wear any Japanese themed clothing they may have or dress in red and white to match the colours of the Japanese flag. We are looking forward to a fun day!
