A Message from the Principal

School Captains 2025

Our Year 5 students have had the opportunity to nominate for a student leadership role for 2025. Nominees presented speeches to the students of NPS and then elections were held. We are pleased to let the community know our school captains and school vice captains for 2025 are:

School Captains

Aria                                                    Viv

School Vice Captains

Indi                   Johnathan                       Mia

We look forward to working with student leaders for 2025.

Naming of Woggabaliri Play Area

Our student leaders welcomed Richie Allen, Ngunnawal elder and grandparent of NPS students to conduct a naming ceremony of our new play space previously known as West Park. The new name is Woggabaliri which translates to play in Ngunnawal language.

Ngunnawal Primary sent 2 girl teams and 2 boy teams to the 5/6 Soccer Gala Day. All teams had wins throughout the day and played well together. Well done to the girls who won the gala day defeating Rosary 1-0 in the grand final. The boys unfortunately went down 2-0 in their grand final to Burgmann. All students are to be congratulated for participating and representing our school.

Year 5 and 6 Band Performances

Our bands performed brilliantly at the Ngunnawal Community day on Saturday! Thank you to those families who helped with setting up and packing away as well as cheering on our bands as they performed between 3-4pm. Many past students and siblings came to give support and there was a great camaraderie amongst them all!

Year 6 Beach Volleyball Gala Day

Ngunnawal Primary had 7 teams participate in the Beach Volleyball Gala Day. All students enjoyed the day as it was something they don’t usually get to do. Our teams did well taking out 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Well done to all students who participated.

Home Reading and Library Borrowing

From Monday 27 November all borrowing of books from the library will finish for stocktake. The changing of books for home reading will finish Friday 6 December.

Please send all books back so we can review our stock levels. We encourage all students to keep reading over the summer.

Here are some ideas to keep reading fresh:

  • Find a book at home that you haven't read in a while and read it again.
  • Borrow a book from a friend or neighbour. Start your own book swap!
  • Read an e-book.
  • Visit the Gungahlin Library. Parents can assist with joining online. Did you know Gungahlin Library has a large digital collection of books, magazines, movies and music?
  • Investigate new release books and create a wish list or recommendations for the school library.
  • Have a family dinner book club once a week.
  • Try a reading place challenge this summer. Can you read in 50 different places?
  • Try Summer Reading Bingo (see below) It is ok to do some of these with a helper if needed.
