Ngunnawal Community Day
We hope our school community enjoyed the Ngunnawal Community Day over the weekend. Thank you to our P and C who have done a fabulous job fundraising for our school and providing services to our community such as super cheap uniforms. Thank you also to Nat Munoz and Belinda Robertson for coordinating our band students on the day.

We have one last opportunity to see our bands perform in 2022:
- Year 5 on Friday 2 Dec at 12pm
- Year 6 on Tuesday 6 Dec at 12pm
Both performances are on the school hall, families are welcome.

Home Reading and Library Borrowing
From Monday 5 December all borrowing of books from classrooms and the library will finish. Please send all books back so we can review our stock levels. We encourage all students to keep reading over the summer.
Here are some ideas to keep reading fresh:
- Find a book at home that you haven't read in a while and read it again.
- Borrow a book from a friend or neighbour. Start your own book swap!
- Read an e-book.
- Visit the Gungahlin Library. Parents can assist with joining online. Did you know Gungahlin Library has a large digital collection of books, magazines, movies and music?
- Investigate new release books and create a wish list or recommendations for the school library.
- Have a family dinner book club once a week.
- Try a reading place challenge this summer. Can you read in 50 different places?
- Try Summer Reading Bingo (see below) It is ok to do some of these with a helper if needed.
Our Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5 Learning Journeys are on tomorrow!

Staff Planning Day Monday 28 November
A reminder that ACT public schools will hold a staff planning (pupil free) day this Monday 28 November to give teachers time for lesson planning and admin that they can't do while on class. Students who can not stay home will be able to attend school and be supervised while undertaking general learning activities. Please confirm via email info@angunnawalps.act.edu.au if your child will be attending school on these days.

LSU Spotlight on Learning Week 7
LSUEB, LSUSG and LSUMA have worked collaboratively this semester during Science, PE and library sessions. We have enjoyed learning from each other, spending time together and sharing our work. It has been nice to see the development of positive relationships between the children
LSUMA created dioramas for their chosen animal. Using Google slides students created information reports to go with their diorama. This was then shared with LSUSG and LSUEB. After viewing LSUMA’s diorama’s LSUSG were inspired to research an animal and create their own diorama. The students worked really hard to find facts about their animals including the animals food habits, life cycles and habitats.

Every week LSUMA and LSUEB meet in the library for reading and cooperative play.

LSUMA have been enjoying yoga during mindfulness sessions after recess.Yoga poses and deep breathing encourages a positive and healthy lifestyle for the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children. It helps in the development of strength, stamina, and endurance, high levels of positive energy, resilience, focus, self-awareness, and awareness of our environment.

A reminder to stay COVID Smart at school
As we experience new waves of the virus in our community, we need to remember to stay COVID Smart not only in the community but also at school. For the latest advice, watch the ACT COVID-19 update (November 2022) from Chief Health Officer, Kerryn Coleman.
If your child has COVID-19, you must keep them at home and let the school know. Telling us when your child has COVID-19 will also help us track if there is an increase in COVID-19 transmission at school and manage any high-risk exposures for our more vulnerable school community members.
Being COVID Smart is easy
· Make sure you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters.
· Stay away from schools if you are unwell.
· Wash your hands regularly.
· Wear a mask in public indoor places if you can (12 years and over).
· Keep a distance from others when indoors, if possible.
And don’t forget – if you have COVID-19 symptoms, make sure you get tested. You can access a free rapid antigen test from your school’s front office. Keep up to date at COVID-19 (act.gov.au).

Inclusive Education Strategy – Have your say
Have your say! The Education Directorate is working to strengthen inclusive education and is reviewing the way ACT public schools deliver disability education to inform a draft Inclusive Education Strategy. The Strategy will provide longer term direction and system reform to embed inclusive cultures and educational practice in ACT Public Schools. A discussion paper presents a draft position statement on Inclusive Education and 7 proposed themes for the Strategy, informed by the Community Conversation and a review of contemporary evidence. Further information is available on the Education Website- Strengthening Inclusive Education including a link to the Discussion Paper, an online survey and the Community Conversation Report. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this important work. For further information please contact the Inclusive Education Strategy team via email - EDUInclusiveEducationStrategy@act.gov.au
