Rugby League
Our year 5/6 team attended NRL’s Sullivan Shield Gala Day. The boys played well as a team and went through the day with 4 wins and 1 draw leaving them undefeated for the day. Felix S was the player of the day and received a footy. Well done boys.
Oztag
An always popular Oztag Gala day saw Ngunnawal enter two year 3/4 teams and four year 5/6 teams. The boys were up first with the year 3/4 team playing well and are to be commended playing all day with no subs winning a game and drawing one out of their 5 games. Our year 5/6 boys’ teams also played well with one team winning a game and drawing one of their 5 games. Our second 5/6 boys team won all 5 of their games finishing second overall. The boys then came up against a very strong Good Shephard in the semi final and went down 6-2. The boys should be commended as these were the first two tries scored against the eventual winners of the day. Well done to all three teams.
The girls were up next seeing a huge increase in teams compared to previous years. Our year 3/4 team had three wins under their belt, a draw and one loss. The girls demonstrated brilliant communication throughout the day, learning how to sub and the benefits of talking on the field to help defend the play. Both year 5/6 girls teams faced many strong competitors but learnt the value of being zippy down the wing to score a try.
Congratulations for an absolutely spectacular Gala Day, filled with thrilling matches, outstanding sportsmanship, and a true sense of camaraderie among all participants. A special mention to Capital Prints for Ngunnawal’s new jerseys for gala days.

The day saw students participate in either a 1, 1.5, 2 or 3 kilometre track around Mt Stromlo. While a foggy day and a few kangaroos were present, the students all showed both the physical endurance and mental strength it takes to run these distances. A special Mention to Millie O for placing 5th in the girls 8 years and Parker HB placing 10th in the 10 years boys. We wish them luck as they have qualified for ACT Cross Country.
