A Message from the Principal

Colour Run

A huge thank you to Sarah for coordinating another successful Colour Run at the end of last term. Despite some fresh weather and soggy grass everyone had an amazing time, especially our younger students who were experiencing a Colour Run for the first time. Thank you to all our volunteers who came out to assist on the day.

Assemblies

This term, we are removing the booking system for assemblies. We ask that all visitors continue to social distance and do not come to the school if unwell.

2023 Friend Requests and Class Considerations

Every year, Ngunnawal School staff work hard to create classes for the following year. We encourage children to select friends they learn well with, allow parents the opportunity to provide input and work closely with classroom teachers to create cohesive classes.

This year we would like to collate all this information in one location. This Google Form will allow all families to have the opportunity to share their preferences for 2023.

We encourage you to talk with your child about who they learn best with and who they would like to be in a class with for the following year. We will guarantee that every child is with at least one of their chosen friends if not more. In addition to this, each child will be in a class with a number of students from their current class.

Please use the link below to indicated preferences by Friday 4 November.

K-6 Learning Journeys

Preschool to Kindergarten Transition Visits

This term we continue on with our Preschool to Kindergarten transitions. For this term, we have staggered the transitions in to the Kindergarten classes over Weeks 4, 6 and 8. We have managed to stagger these times, so that the children have an opportunity to experience similar routines/activities/transitions to a morning, middle and afternoon session of a school day. We have also aimed to include an ‘eating time’ so students can practise eating in a set time frame as they will have to do next year. During Week 7 and Week 9, there will be the opportunity for children coming to our school from external education & care providers, preschools, ELCs etc to experience similar transitions and become more familiar with our school.

Term 4 Pupil Free Days

Two staff planning days (pupil free) will again be in place in Term 4. The dates are Friday 28 October 2022 and Monday 28 November 2022.

These planning days provide an important opportunity for our staff to undertake training, plan for the remainder of the term and the year ahead and finalise end of year student reporting which can’t be done during class time.

While students may wish to use these days to catch up on homework and / or assignments, no additional work will be allocated to them on these days. Families may like to use these as wellbeing days for their children.

Students who can’t stay at home will be able to attend school and be supervised while undertaking general learning activities. Please confirm attendance by emailing info@ngunnawalps.act.edu.au
