A Message from the Principal
Indigenous Literacy Day

Indigenous Literacy Day is a day recognised and hosted by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an Australian not-for-profit charity that aims to improve literacy in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. For some Australian communities, especially in remote parts of Australia, the scarcity of literature and resources for reading, coupled with low levels of literacy make reading difficult. Thanks to the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, this is changing. It is not just children that are finding their love for reading – their parents, grandparents and Elders are as well.
Each of our classes researched an Indigenous author and have made this learning available to all students in our library.
Academic Reports
ACT public schools have commenced preparing student reports for Semester 2 2022.
The Education Directorate has again made the decision that student academic reports will be provided with an overall A-E grade, and an assessment of achievement standard statements on a 5-point scale. Reports will not include detailed teacher comments.
This strategy supports schools to prioritise teaching and learning as we continue to manage workload pressures due to COVID-19 and other illness.
Our teachers will continue communicating directly with families about student learning and you are encouraged to speak with your child’s teacher if you have any questions about their progress.
Ngunnawal Primary School will be inviting all families in for end of semester interviews in Term 4.

Oztag
Thursday and Friday of week 7, Trent, Tom, Dianna and Nakita took 5 teams to the Boys and Girls Oztag Gala Day. The boys had a tough competition, and one of our 5/6 teams only just missed out in reaching semi-finals. A massive congratulations to the girls 3/4 team who won their competition in a nail-biting grand final resulting in extra time remaining undefeated in all seven games.
